Kanye West creates controversy, loses brand deals

Kanye West, also known as Ye, has been under fire for his antisemetic remarks. He has been criticized for his recent behavior, which ranges from wearing a “White Lives Matter” shirt at his Yeezy fashion show in Paris, to shaming artist Lizzo, to falsely stating that Planned Parenthood was founded to “control the Jew population”. One of the most serious of his remarks having been that he wants, “Death con on jewish people” which was stated in a now-deleted tweet. He stated that he did not regret his anti-semetic remarks. Several brands have seen these remarks and, as a result, have decided to cut ties with him. These companies include Adidas, Gap, and Balenciaga. Adidas, a shoe brand that distributed Kanye’s fashion line “Yeezy’s”, had also made a statement reprimanding his remarks. The statement was, “Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech. Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.”
