Poolesville Cross Country had 25 members invited to the 51st Manhattan Invite, 13 boys and 12 girls. The Invite was held October 14th and started at 9 AM. The Men’s Varsity team finished in fourth place in the 2.5 mile race. Connor Kohne ran a 13:49.9 finishing in 18th place, Caleb Bodmer ran a 14:13.3 finishing in 30th place, and Ethan Dimmerling ran a 14:19.4, finishing in 38th place. The Women’s Varsity team finished in 10th place, Roma Diak ran a 16:45.2, finishing in 22nd place, Ruby Mercer ran a 16:59.1, finishing in 34th place, and Ava Wagner ran a 17:44.1, finishing in 68th place.
The prestigious invite offered many rewards for the top finishers. Over all 41 races, there were 75 total medals given out to the best of the best. That’s not where the prizes stop however, and the first three teams in all Varsity boys and girls races received T-shirts. The coaches of the winning teams were also given a windbreaker. Trophies were given out to the winning team at each of the events, and the overall winning runners received watches.
