Football student section creates exciting game environment

The Poolesville student section was hyped up for the first home football game of the year against BCC. The Barons ended up pulling out a win, but the Falcons kept it close during the first half. The game started with a bang, as Senior Connor Shelburne both forced and recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff, setting up the struggling PHS offense deep in BCC territory. They took advantage of the short field, swiftly scoring their first touchdown of the year, and taking an early 7-0 lead. The Barons quickly killed this lead, and took a lead of their own to make the score 34-7 at halftime. In the second half Junior Dashawn Stanton had a huge interception that caused the Falcons Nest to erupt. The Falcons put up some more points in the second half, once again scoring a touchdown by way of Senior RB Tyler Shefter. The BCC Barons ended up winning 41-13, but the Falcons in the student section had an amazing time at the home opener.

The Nest was getting into it the whole game, even with a hard loss. Behind the leadership of Seniors Ryan Griffith and Brady Cournoyer, the Falcon’s Nest was loud as ever. The Senior boys, Dylan Weaver, Ryan Griffith, Parker Pearre, Brady Cournoyer, Nicholas Khalil, Andrew Brill, and Luke Grossnickle lead the Student section last night, writing “FALCONS” across their chest and standing at the fence, getting the Falcon faithful loud. The Student Section was doing whatever they could to get loud, including crowdsurfing Freshman Connor Jacobs. The Falcons Nest was also able to use the drum to get the crowd loud, with Jack Loftus being the one to hit the drum. The crowd took it to another level when Brady Cournoyer’s younger brothers Easton and Carson walked by and hit the drum, starting the future Falcons young. Although the Falcons couldn’t pull out the win, the falcons have something to look forward to, having an amazing time off the field, in the stands last night.
