The Healthy Hub moved next to Anytime Fitness on Fisher Avenue after the rental agreement at the original location concluded.
The Healthy Hub is a local cafe that sells nutritional teas and smoothies, along with protein waffles and donuts. Their menu was curated to help fulfill their goal of promoting a healthy lifestyle. It closed its original location after five years next to All About Equestrian in February 2025, and had its grand reopening at its new location on Sep. 27, 2025. Owner and founder Kailee Perno was looking for a new location after the lease at her old location ended.
“The new spot behind Anytime Fitness offered more visibility, easier parking, and a chance to connect even more with people who care about health and wellness — which fits perfectly with what we do,” said Perno.
This spot next to Anytime Fitness had not been in use, so Perno took this as her chance to consider moving her business to this location.
To include the community at the end of their moving process, the Healthy Hub held a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony. Local customers, town businesses, and town leaders attended the event.
“Regulars have told us they love the new look and setup, and new customers often say they didn’t even know about us before we moved,” Perno said. “Many people have said the new spot feels brighter, cozier and more inviting — and they love that it’s right next to the gym!”
Anytime Fitness is a gym establishment that has been a part of the community since February 2017 .
Joy Hallfors, co-owner of Anytime Fitness, reported on the moving process the Healthy Hub underwent while changing locations.
“The transformation from ‘creepy cinderblock shed’ to such a warm and welcoming environment was no easy feat — they truly poured blood, sweat, and tears into that project,” said Hallfors.
The Healthy Hub’s location next to Anytime Fitness demonstrates further benefits.
“It creates this mini ‘health hub’ in Poolesville where people can work out, refuel, and connect with others who share similar goals,” said Hallfors.
Hallfors stated that this new location has a convenience factor that allows gym clients and Healthy Hub customers to be motivated to visit both the gym and the Healthy Hub. She believes that this close proximity with the reopened Healthy Hub doesn’t just affect the community, but also enables a close pairing between the businesses.
“I think we make an incredible partnership! We get along so well with their staff…It’s truly a perfect partnership — and we couldn’t be happier,” said Hallfors.
Shortly after opening at its new location, the Healthy Hub held a slogan contest where members of the community were able to submit slogan ideas for the business. Perno and staff members chose which slogan they thought best suited their business goals. The winning slogan was: “Sip, Smile, & Stay Awhile!” This slogan will be painted above the wall at the entrance.
Regular customer of the Healthy Hub and senior Daisy Shumaker has reported on how the Healthy Hub’s change in location has impacted her. Shumaker has been a regular customer before and after their change in locations.
“I like it more because it’s closer. The atmosphere definitely hasn’t changed; it’s still a happy place,” stated Shumaker. “I think it was a good move because they’re right behind a gym so they’re attracting more of the audience that they want.”
Shumaker has a general go-to order, but also enjoys branching out. With the new location, the Healthy Hub has been able to expand their menu of protein smoothies, boosted teas, coffee, oatmeal, smoothie bowls, and waffles. They have even started creating seasonal specials with their smoothie and energy tea menus, a response to community feedback urging for these seasonal items.
Shumaker says that even though the Healthy Hub’s location is different, the overall business environment has remained the same.
“I think it brings the community together,” added Shumaker.
