Cross Country wins 2A Regionals
The Cross Country team took first place across both genders at the Maryland 2A West regional event at Liberty High School on Thursday November 3rd.
In the girls race, the team improved markedly on their fourth-place finish last year, as Daisy Dastrup and Anna Bodmer placed second and third place respectively, while Roma Diak finished sixth to round out the Poolesville runners in the top ten. Ava Wagner (12th) and Peri Nelson (13th) rounded out the point scorers, finishing within a half-second of each other. All five point-scoring runners finishing within the top 15 established a 23-point margin of victory over Century High School in second.
In the boys race, the reigning regional champions placed all five runners within the top 20, with four of the five placing inside the top ten. Caleb Dastrup (3rd), William Beane (4th), Connor Kohne (9th), and Aaron Longbrake (10th) all timed in under 18 minutes. Flynn Barger (20th) rounded out the points for Poolesville. A 28 point gap separated Poolesville from the joint-second place finishers of Century and Liberty.
The team will look to defend its state championship on Saturday November 12th at Hereford High School.
