Apple Reveals New AirPods Pro
On Oct. 30th, Apple released the AirPods Pro- a new rendition of the AirPods, Apple’s wireless earbuds. This new product will cost customers $249.99 and it comes with a variety of new features in comparison to past models. Apple is especially highlighting the “Active Noise Cancellation” feature which allows users to block out the sounds of the environment around them and focus on what they are listening to. They also introduced “Transparency Mode” that enables users to hear their surroundings more clearly while still listening to music in the background. The other new additions include Audio Sharing of music and videos between two sets of AirPods, slightly quicker charging, water and sweat resistance, and many new sensors that affect the listening experience.
Some students have already purchased the AirPods Pro because they especially like the new noise cancellation feature and how the earbuds fit their ears.
“My experience with them has been good because they haven’t had any problems and are able to cancel out outside noise,” said freshman Zain Usman.
“The noise cancellation is really cool and they actually fit into my ear real nicely,” added senior Geraldine Guzman.
Although there are several new technological innovations in the AirPods Pro as well as three different sizes of silicone tips that adjust to different people’s ear shapes, there is one slight advantage to having the previous model: they have five hours of listening time with one charge in comparison to the AirPods Pro’s four and a half hours with a single charge. Although this change may seem miniscule, Usman described the battery life “disappointing.”
While some people have been motivated to buy new AirPods Pro, others who have the original AirPods are hesitant to invest in the newest model.
“So far, I am pleased with my AirPods. They are easy to use and eliminate the chance of being tangled up,” said senior Phillip Lee. Although he has a positive experience with the AirPods, he was not interested in purchasing the AirPods Pro.
“I would not be willing to buy the AirPods Pro as they are a bit pricey and do not have any features that motivate me to buy another pair of AirPods,” explained Lee.
